where modern life meets the unconscious.

Let’s talk about sex, ambition, intimacy, and everything underneath.

What shows up in bed, in love, or at work is never just about performance —

It’s rooted in who we are, what we’ve lived through, and how we long to be known.

I’m Juliane Maxwald,

a New York–based psychoanalyst, relationship and sex therapist, and author. For over two decades, I’ve helped individuals and couples explore the unconscious patterns that shape their emotional, sexual, and professional lives — and supported them in creating more grounded, connected ways of living.

Whether you’re navigating low desire, infidelity, compulsive behavior, communication breakdowns, anxiety, depression, or career dissatisfaction — or simply seeking more alignment in love, work, or life — I offer a space to slow down, listen deeply, and move toward meaningful change.

My approach integrates contemporary psychoanalysis, relationship and sex therapy, and somatic awareness, helping clients attune to the emotional signals held in the body. For coaching clients, I draw on insight-oriented tools that link inner conflict with outer performance, creativity, and relational success.

Together, we won’t just manage symptoms — we’ll explore what your experience is trying to reveal: your needs, your history, and your capacity for intimacy, creativity, and change.

What brings people here —

People come to therapy for many reasons—some clear, others harder to name.

Sometimes it starts with a crisis — a rupture, a loss, a breaking point. Other times it’s quieter, just a low-level restlessness or sense that something’s off, even if life looks fine on the outside.

Whether you arrive with a sexual concern, a relational wound, or a longing to grow—emotionally, professionally, or erotically—we’ll explore what’s beneath the surface and what’s possible from here.

Together, we’ll create space to listen deeply, relieve what feels overwhelming, and move toward lasting change.

Here are some areas we might explore together:

Whether working together in a clinical or coaching capacity, you can expect a steady, human space where shame loosens its grip and your story can be truly heard.
